The Boys and Girls Club was constructed in 1966. The current parcel includes the 1950s Tift Park swimming pool famously associated with the 1963 attempt to avoid desegregation by the City when they sold the pool and adjacent tennis courts to a private party. The pool was reopened in 1971. Both the pool and club are vacant.
