Architectural Description

This is a 3-story domestic: Hotel building in the Art Deco style built in 1935. Exterior walls are stucco. The building has a flat with parapet roof. Windows are replacement aluminum casements. Large etched glass window on east elevation is a replica of the original, which was accidentally destroyed during renovation. There is a single-story, wrap-around open porch characterized by an integrated (under the main) roof with rectangular stuccoed posts. Porch recessed into the building runs the entire length of the east elevation and wraps around to the eastern end of the south elevation; Terrazzo floor designs; Simple metal railing between large, rectangular stuccoed posts; Along the east elevation, porch is divided into three bays by a rectangular arcade Symmetrical tripartite facade design; Ziggurat parapet roofline; Interior and exterior terrazzo floors; Each of the three bays framed by fluted pilasters with ornate relief sculptural capitals; Low-relief horizontal banding below second floor level windows, above third floor level windows and just below cornice; Relief sculptural panels between second and third floor level windows; Horizontal fluted band just above first floor level; Masonry screens at apex of outside bays on east elevation and on either side of second and third floor level windows on the central bay of the east elevation; Three arches at apex of central bay on east elevation; Limited glassblock usage at rear of building The builder is recorded as O'neill and Orr Building Corporation.
