Architectural Description

This is a 2-story domestic: Hotel building in the Miami Modern style built in 1949. Exterior walls are stucco. The building has a flat with parapet roof. Windows are replacement aluminum fixed. Multi-pane fixed windows line the north elevation wall of 1130 Collins Avenue and the south elevation wall of 1136 Collins Avenue; Fixed windows across the public east elevation. There is a single-story, full-span open porch characterized by a flat roof clad in stucco. Full-span porch is lifted a few steps off the ground level and is not recessed into the building; Shaded by continuous eyebrow just above the first floor level; Two-colored terrazzo floor; Simple low, stuccoed brick wall lines the porch with metal railing above. Enter up two steps that lead to the porch and then directly down the corridor that separates the two structures; Each of the two structures has primary entryways on the east elevation servicing the distinct retail shops inside; Primary entryway for the hotel is located on the central corridor that runs between the two buildings.
